It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Some will actually say it’s the most stressful time of year as well. Stress doesn’t have to be mixed in with the joy if you make it a priority to take care of yourself! Practicing Self-care is an important way to balance yourself and repel the unnecessary upsets the holiday season may bring. Activating a relaxation response can reduce, and even reverse, the physical, mental and emotional effects of stress.
You may ask, what is self-care? “Self-care is exactly what it sounds like: taking care of oneself. It’s any activity or practice that’s embraced solely for the purpose of one’s well-being.”
Self-care comes in all forms: exercising, making healthy meals, meditating, or treating oneself to a facial. It’s not one specific practice, but anything done to nourish the body and mind. Try and incorporate some “me time” during the day whether it’s listening to your favorite podcast/music in the car or simply lighting a refreshing candle at the end of the day. These small adjustments throughout the day can make such a difference and relax your mind from the holiday demands.
Remember to take care of yourself and love to all!
